Rogers, Arkansas Lions Club Community Services
Sight Conservation

By far, the Rogers Lions Club's "
Sight Conservation Program" receives the "Lions Share" of funds generated by our fundraisers.
Money budgeted for this project is used to purchase eye glasses for
grade school children in the Rogers, Arkansas community who, chould not otherwise afford them.
Each year a Lion is elected by the Club to serve as Chairman of the Sight Conservation Project. This Chairman administers the project in keeping with guidelines established by the Lions Club Board. Every effort is made to insure that the "most needy" in the community get first priority. School nurses are very helpful in determining which children need glasses. A local optometrist has been very helpful in seeing that basic vision correction is provided at a reasonable cost.
Every year we get more request for glasses than we can provide.
"Jack Gray" Scholarship

Jack Gray was a "Tail twister" in the Rogers Lions Club in the "early days". The Jack Gray Scholarship award was estab-ablished in his honor.
Each year a $1,000 scholarship is given to two local high school seniors to assist in the cost of a college education.
A nominating committee is appointed to work with high school scholarship adminstrators to pick the appropriate candidates.
